Our Learning Journey
All Piano lessons are one-on-one. Most common is the option of myself coming over for lessons. Or you can head over to my residence to learn on a Wilhelm Tell Empire 190 Grand Piano. It'll be a time to embrace music as part of your life and an extension to your being as well as have a bit of a fun and some chill out space in this fast paced environment.
About
Teacher Paul (FTCL, LRSM, BMus)

I'm a graduate with a Bachelor's degree of Classical Music (BMus) from LASALLE College of the Arts that has a recent passion of teaching. Formerly from the Pianist Studio, I'm now one of the many teachers with the Happy Pianist. In addition I hold a Licentiate in Piano Performance in ABRSM (LRSM) and recently in 2024 obtained a Fellow (FTCL) in Piano Recital from Trinity College London.
My philosophy behind music that is a way to have a connection with your inner being as well as a means to de-stress and relax yourself in this fast paced environment. Teaching-wise it's a matter of establishing a relationship between students, parents, and teachers themselves, kinda like a teaching version of a love-triangle if you would like to put it. End of the day, it's how every party achieves the right balance of satisfaction and results while keeping things fun and easy.
Besides classical music, I also like arranging and improvising on other genres like blues, Pop, film and Video game music and sacred music. Outside of teaching, I occasionally help out as an on-call pianist from the Singapore Ballet. Additionally I recently returned in January 2024 to serve the Catholic Church of the Holy Family as musician of the Genesis II Choir for masses, weddings and funerals as both pianist, organist and chorister (tenor/baritone) and mentor for musicians who would like to serve, having held the post from 2007 to 2017.

Christian Tan,
ABRSM Grade 4
Christian Tan is amongst some of the few students in the Special Needs Community I have under my wing, being one with Down Syndrome. In 2022, he pulled off an impressive rendition of Josh Groban's You Raise me Up and was one of the two Performers of the Day for the 2023 recital for a excellent run of his Prelude in C Major by Bach.

Ryan Liow
ABRSM Grade 5
Happy go lucky, yet young Ryan Liow is one that always pushes himself, dealing with pieces above his current grade. At the age of 7 he has passed with Merit in his first Piano Exam. In the same year, he also presented the full original version of Fur Elise in a student recital.

Ian Daryanto
ABRSM Grade 5
Despite only joining me since late 2022, Ian Daryanto managed to score a Distinction in his very first exam for Piano Grade 3. Although he is currently in a Chinese Orchestra 'CO peeps' from Victoria School and VJC, his constant exposure to Western Classical Music has greatly matured him beyond his grade. As such, his repertoire is significantly harder than his current level, including:
- Debussy's Pagodes Estampes (LRSM exam piece)
- Debussy's Claire De Lune (Trinity Grade 8)
ABRSM Grade 3 - Distinction
